OMD... it's August!

Hello my friends!

It's me, Juno!  I hope you're having a great summer!

Summer is pawsome!
Everyday, mom and I enjoy 'after work' long walkies!

Sometime it's really hot but my refreshment is always ready.

Too hot to stroll?  Let's go to my favourite place
to get some chilly air!

Mom always tells me my face changes instantly.  BOL

Thank you, A/C!

You know what I found during my morning walky?

Mushrooms!  Why here?!?

"No mushroom for doggies!"

This day, mom couldn't stop laughing.
Do I look funny??

Happy Messy Hair Day!

"Before bed walkies" is always fun in summer.
This day, I met a Cavalier girl.

I did hide and seek!

Can you see me, mom?

And... of course I take my mission seriously.
I am on Paw Patrol!

My bro spent 10 days at his friend's family cottage
somewhere far from Toronto!

Great pic, bro!

Every day, bro, his friends and pawrents swam and walked in the woods.
They had so much fun!

One day, they visited the closest town
from the cottage called Bancroft, Ontario.

And they saw this sign - Beer for Dogs!

Cool!

Mom always wonders why healthy eating costs so much!

She already gave up Whole Foods Market and shops at
the regular supermarket.
Still, she has to check what's on sales.

10lb bag of potatoes is a half price this week! Paws up!
BUTT a half pint of raspberries (25 pieces hahaha) is still $4.   Grrrr!

So she joins Odd Bunch.

Apparently, 50% of all food produced in Canada is wasted! (No Way!)

Grocery stores have strict cosmetic standards and
anything looks a bit different is rejected. (What?!?)

Odd Bunch rescues the surplus and delivers to our door.

This medium box is $32!!

Just once, there was an odd-looking stuff but hey,
this heart shaped potato is so cute!

We love opening the box every week!

Broccoli, lychee, Plums...., smile to mom's camera!

Me, sampling a crunchy giant green bean.

Let's hope our summer will last longer!

See you next time!

What fun walks you get, I’m glad you can get out even in this part of the summer.

Hi, Juno! You do get around! AC walks in a mall are to be preferred when it is so hot.
And we thought our groceries were expensive. Yikes!
That odd shaped stuff is still good food...good that it doesn't go to waste this way.
Enjoy the rest of your summer. Too bad you couldn't join your bro at thayt cottage. It looks nice there!

We have been reading over here reports on how much food prices are rising in Canada - you will soon be paying stratospheric prices like we do in NZ. I try to grow as much as I can to keep the food bill reasonable but NZ$300 per week seems to be about normal for 2 adults!

Hi JUNO ... paws up on another wonderful monthly wrap-up of life in Toronto.
Love sharing your night & day walks [did you get any new sparklies at that amazing "can't spell it right" store?, mine Mommy has a lovely vase from there]. Is bro off to college soon, we kinda sorta thinking he might be ... will you share his dorm room? Xander shares with Ms Isabel down in Tampa you know. Soon autumn leaves will fall and your walkies will looking very different ... oh, before we go: your Mom is quite the smart shopper. We all need to be that way now, and we do that here, too. Of course, we suspect your food bowl is pretty much the same as it always was ... right, always the best for us pups and kitties. See you next month, Meowz from June, and the lady who lives with me.

We have lots of mushrooms growing in our yard and I get yelled at all the time to "leave the mushrooms alone, Duke". Green beans are yummy and I like them too, Juno!

Juno we certainly don't want warm weather to go away. Even though it's been a little bit too hot snow is no fun. We like the one where you were hiding behind the red roses. And you meant a friend a girlfriend no less. What fun for your bro but I bet he still missed you. Lynn shops at a regular grocery but she too has to check the prices because she only buys fresh produce Not that Frozen preseason stuff. Me I just eat my Crunchies like a good girl.

We loved your messy hair pic, Juno! We don't have Whole Foods here in France but #1 remembers it being pricey from when she lived in Chicago. She shops quite a bit at Lidl and Aldi which are smaller and better priced, but we hear they don't have any stores in Canada.

Juno, you sure did a great job of catching us up on things with you and your family. We always enjoy seeing the photos and your descriptions of you and Mom's walkies. And your bad hair day photo is so fun! We are glad Bro had fun with his friends and their family. His photo from the lake is so wonderful! Grocery prices are expensive here, too. We always look for sales whenever possible. Hugs!

You sure see lots of cool sites on your walkies. My sister gets the Odd Box too. I always think there'd be too much in a box for just me.

We love to see what you are up to Juno! You have such great walks but we are especially jealous of your walk through the Shopping Center with AC!!! Looks SO refreshing after being in the HOT air. And your bad hair photo made us laugh out loud! And our mom does a produce box like you do, but your produce looks so much better! Have a great rest of the month!

Sadly it is cheaper to create what we call false food, or ultra processed food, then sell at a high margin. But that is from a corporate point of view. And it is made to be addictive too. Now we buy whole food and plant based items and make our own. Buying wonky of non-standard fresh produce surely is the way to go. That is an amazingly high degree of wastage, but I think it is mirrored global in developed countries where food is cheap(ish) and easy to come by.
What a lovely spot for your bro to go and holiday at. I bet you would love that too, Juno.
